1. Numerous inventions came about during the 1800’s that radically changed life for the better or the worse. Thinking back on some of those inventions, which ones do you believe changed life for the better? Describe how life was better and why. Which inventions do you believe complicated life and possibly made things worse in the long run? Be sure to explain.
2. Slavery is obviously a key issue for the United States during this time period. Give reasons for why slavery was supported by parts of the U.S. and explain why these areas needed slavery. On the opposite side, describe the terrible effects of slavery and how it changed lives for African Americans.
